See Me Save Me and Kate Cairns played a key role in the development of CLOCS and the ongoing work to strengthen the scheme. See Me Save Me is a CLOCS Champion.

The CLOCS Standard for construction logistics: Managing work related road risk (WRRR) is the result of collaboration between safety campaigners, construction clients, logistic operators and industry associations. CLOCS brings together best practice from a number of individual policies, codes of practice and standards into one common WRRR package.

The CLOCS Standard is implemented by developers. Fleet operators find they can use the scheme to standardise, improve and audit adherence consistently. The Standard aims to ensure that construction companies follow effective practice in the management of their operations, vehicles, drivers and construction sites. Each requirement has been developed to reduce the risk of a collision between construction HGVs and vulnerable road users including pedestrians and cyclists.

The Standard sets the detailed minimum requirements to create a consistent baseline, but is written in a way that encourages road safety to be managed ever more rigorously as new best practice emerges.

See Me Save Me works in partnership with FORS to embed safety culture in fleet operations. Through a pilot project in the north east of England, See Me Save Me has carried out research and communications with seven local authorities promoting FORS as a practical tool to improve safety in conjunction with CLOCS.  Kate Cairns has also developed a professional relationship with Nexus Tyne and Wear Passenger Transport Executive, whose task is to improve the quality of life and fortunes of everyone in Tyne and Wear, by creating better transport networks.

Kate Cairns works with the Institution of Civil Engineers, of which she is a Fellow and a Member of the ICE Council. Established in 1818, ICE is one of the world's leading civil engineering institutions and a source of independent expertise in infrastructure and engineering policy. It has over 86,000 members worldwide. Under its Royal Charter, ICE has a public duty to provide advice to all political parties and work with industry to ensure that civil engineering remains a major contributor to the UK economy. Though her work with the ICE, Kate pushes forward the construction safety agenda and the See Me Save Me campaign.
